How to test gym software on a phone
A practical mobile test for gym owners assessing booking, programme loading and staff usability.
Test the conditions in which the app will be used
A fast demonstration on office Wi-Fi does not show what members experience at the edge of the gym. Test a normal phone, a smaller screen and an ordinary mobile connection. Measure the time until useful information appears, not just the time until a loading spinner changes. Repeat the same task after signing in again and after returning to an existing session. Cold and repeat visits can have different performance.
A practical checklist
- Open a class timetable and complete a test booking.
- Load a programme and expand a workout with several exercises.
- Check button sizes, text wrapping and horizontal scrolling.
- Try password recovery and note where help is available.
Put it into practice
Write down device, connection and task alongside each timing. Comparing unexplained speed numbers from different devices is not meaningful. Ask a coach to use the programme view during a rehearsal session; if they need both hands or repeated zooming, the interface needs work even when the network is fast.
