Keeping a simple record of your gym sessions
A brief session record can help you remember questions and discuss your experience with a coach.
Record useful context rather than everything
You do not need a complicated spreadsheet to remember what happened in a session. Follow the recording approach your coach uses, and add a short note when something needs discussion. Distinguish a completed exercise from a planned one and ask how unfamiliar fields should be used. Avoid putting private health information into shared spaces or public posts; use the appropriate route for personal conversations.
A practical checklist
- Ask which parts of the programme you should record.
- Use consistent exercise names and units.
- Note questions while they are easy to remember.
- Review the record with your coach rather than interpreting every fluctuation alone.
Put it into practice
A note such as 'I was unsure about the setup on the second exercise' can make the next conversation more useful. The purpose of the record is to support understanding and continuity, not to turn every visit into a test.
