What does an individual gym programme mean?
An individual programme gives your training a clear structure, with choices discussed around your starting point and goals.
A programme is something to understand
Knowing which exercises appear on a plan is only part of using it. You also need to understand the intended order, what to record and when to ask for help. At Ascend, small-group personal training is described as following your own programme with coaching guidance. Ask how the plan is introduced and how changes are discussed. A programme should not become a set of unexplained instructions you feel obliged to guess at.
A practical checklist
- Ask what the session is intended to help you practise.
- Check any unfamiliar terms or exercise names.
- Find out what information to record after a session.
- Discuss how feedback influences the next review.
Put it into practice
At the end of an introduction, try explaining the next session back in your own words. If a part is still unclear, ask while the coach can help. Understanding the process makes it easier to use the programme consistently.
