How to ask for coaching help in a small group
You can ask questions during group training; knowing how the session works helps you get useful support.
Be clear about what you need to understand
A coach may be guiding several people, so a specific question can help them respond to the right issue. Say whether you are unsure about the instruction, the equipment setup or what to record. Do not assume that everyone else knows everything because they look familiar with the room. Ask Ascend how the group is organised and how new members are introduced to their individual plans.
A practical checklist
- Tell the coach when you do not understand an instruction.
- Ask before improvising with unfamiliar equipment.
- Keep useful questions for your next review.
- Discuss personal concerns privately when appropriate.
Put it into practice
For example, 'Could you show me where this setting should be?' is easier to act on than silently avoiding the exercise. A useful session includes understanding what you are doing. You do not need to apologise for asking a practical question.
