Running a small pilot before moving the whole gym
Use a limited, representative pilot to check your new gym software before a full rollout.
Choose variety rather than only confident users
A pilot should include the situations most likely to reveal gaps: different memberships, a coach who covers sessions and members who use different phones. Keep the pilot small enough that staff can observe it closely. State which records are live and which are test data so nobody mistakes a rehearsal booking for a real entitlement. Define success before the pilot begins, including what would delay launch.
A practical checklist
- Select a few representative roles and membership arrangements.
- Agree the tasks each participant will complete.
- Keep one issue list with severity and ownership.
- Re-test fixes before expanding the rollout.
Put it into practice
A useful pilot result is not simply that people liked the app. Look for evidence that they could join, book, find their programme and get help. Use those results to decide the next rollout step with your software provider.
